Radio kid, club DJ, hardware nerd
Andreas Bakketeig, known as BAKKIS, got his start in 1989, aged ten, helping out at Radio Os on Norway’s west coast. He soon had his own show, and in 1991 he interviewed MC Hammer in Oslo.
Jean-Michel Jarre and The KLF opened the door. A DMC promo subscription that dropped fresh 12-inches through the letterbox every month did the rest. From the late 2000s he played as a club DJ at Destino Pacha, Dunes Ibiza and Hard Rock Ibiza, and at home at Ricks in Bergen, Rebel and Hjørnet. More recently he appeared at Brighton Music Conference.
His debut “Larry” on Huxley’s Dumb Safari reached #18 on Beatport’s global Top 100 Releases and #5 in Tech House. In 2025 he launched Okada Records with “Inna Fire”, and the label has since become home to “H.P.S.”, “Don’t Eat The Fidget”, “Turn Up The Weird”, “Needs” and “Another Day”. “Emphasize”, released on R-Trybe Records with a Dennis De Laat remix, was featured by Beatport, picked for Best New Melodic House & Techno and added to Beatport’s official Spotify playlist.
His tracks have been played by Jamie Jones, Marco Carola, MK, Claptone, Roger Sanchez, Nic Fanciulli and Joseph Capriati, and Pete Tong has given him airplay on BBC Radio 1. He also co-runs the producer community and label R-Trybe with Huxley (Defected, Toolroom) and Ramin Rezaie (Solid Grooves, Moxy). Together they host R-Trybe Sessions on Like It A Lot Radio / Klublisten. In the studio, Serum sits beside his most prized possession, a Moog Subsequent 37.

Press
“Built for late hours and dark rooms, with lean, looped percussion, swung grooves and swooping bass maneuvers.”
“A hypnotic, stripped-back cut… There’s no fat on the mix, just a steady, groove-led pulse.”
“A sound rooted in restraint, swing, and intention.”
In his own words
“My new motto is: Don’t be lazy and follow the vibe!”
“Once you start listening like a producer, you never really go fully back.”
“Taking something away makes you notice it much more when it comes back.”
